Using Natural Progesterone Cream

Navigation

Natural Progesterone Cream provides the much-needed relief from symptoms related to changes in female hormones estrogen and progesterone for a number of women. Younger women often undergo these symptoms or imbalances during PMS or endometriosis. It results in a number of other symptoms such as irritability, breast tenderness and pelvic pain. Older women experienced these symptoms upon entering menopause. The decrease in supplies of estrogen during menopause causes hormonal imbalances, produce hot flashes, mood swings, urinary urgency and poor concentration.

Natural progesterone cream begins with a plant base which commonly uses soybeans or Mexican wild yam. If you use wild yam, a molecule called diosgenin is extracted from it and converted in the lab to create a molecule exactly like that of human progesterone. The natural hormone is added back to the cream. The hormone will pass through the skin and circulate throughout the body.

Progesterone is sold in pill form and regulated like other prescription drugs. But the natural progesterone cream which is applied topically can be sold over-the-counter because FDA's regulatory rules. A number of women undergoing the perimenopause or menopause use it as a mild alternative to progesterone used in the usual hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drugs. Although natural progesterone cream is effective in relieving symptoms, evidence about its effectiveness in protecting osteoporosis or heart disease could not be substantiated. Also, the natural progesterone cream's effectiveness in countering the risks of breast or uterine cancer is not backed by medical studies yet.

When you select a natural progesterone cream, make sure that you read through the list of ingredients. If you cannot see progesterone in the accepted concentration of at least 400 mg per ounce listed among the ingredients then don't buy it, the natural progesterone cream will not work. And if the list of ingredients only includes Mexican wild yam but no progesterone, then this natural progesterone cream is not effective. Unfortunately, the body does not have the capacity to convert yam to progesterone.

To use the natural progesterone cream, put ¼ teaspoon twice daily onto the thinner areas on the tummy, breasts, inner thighs or inner forearms avoid the thicker skin on other parts of the body such as your hands. When undergoing PMS, use the natural progesterone cream 7 to 10 days before expected flow and stop when the menstruation flow starts. For menopause, use the cream twice daily, skip one week every month. For endometriosis, use the natural progesterone cream twice daily if not menstruating.

Natural progesterone cream has no known drug or nutrient interactions. Although there are no long-term studies on the safety of the natural progesterone cream but the observed risks and side effects are minimal.

Pregnant women are cautioned in using the natural progesterone cream during pregnancy or while breast-feeding unless approved or recommended by the doctor.

Using excess amounts of the natural progesterone cream beyond the recommended dosages can cause spotting in postmenopausal women. The amount of the natural progesterone cream applied must be reduced when this symptom occurs.
