Healthy Eating Guide For Adults

Somehow most of us have no or little knowledge about the proper healthy eating guide. This is probably the major cause of the increasing obese population. Another factor that affects our unhealthy diet is the wide array of fast foods and ready-to-eat meal options bought from the supermarkets. Our health and life is at stake if we don’t act soon.

The purpose of this healthy eating guide is to provide substantial information about the importance of balanced nutrition to our health. It may require some time to get used to eating healthy and it also requires hard work but the benefits earned are long-lasting. The earlier we start eating healthy, the earlier we can feel its positive effects on our body.

Where do we get the nutrients that help our body function properly? From the food we eat, of course. We need a variety of foods taken in each day to meet the daily recommended nutrition. There are various food groups that provide different types of nutrients and they too come in different proportions. Bread, cereals, and potatoes make up the first group, fruits and vegetables come in second, milk and dairy products represent the third, meat, fish and other alternatives belong to the fourth, and lastly, the fatty and sugary foods represent the fifth group.

Breakfast cereals, pasta, rice, oats, noodles, maize, millet, cornmeal, beans, pulses, potatoes, and breads belong to this group. You should eat a lot of healthy foods listed here to energize your body throughout the day however you should avoid having them fried, adding too much fat from spreads, and even adding rich sauces and dressings.

The second group is composed of the wide array of fruits and vegetables. You can eat fresh fruits and vegetables, dried fruits and drink fruit juices as part of your daily diet. They contain loads of vitamins, minerals, fiber, as well as some carbohydrates. You should always avoid adding fat or rich sauces to the vegetables and adding sugary dressings to the fruits you take in.

The milk and dairy food products include milk, cheese, and yoghurt. Butter and cream may be regarded as dairy products but they do not belong to this group. The third group should be consumed in moderate amounts and choose the versions with lower fat content for healthier food choice. These foods contain high amounts of calcium, protein, Vitamins B12, A, and D.

The fourth group consists of meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts, and beans. The meat choices...
